Greenkeeping at The Carnegie Links
- Positioned on a narrow finger of land jutting out into the Dornoch Firth, The Carnegie Links is a fine example of a traditional Scottish links course.
- With a full 18 holes and measuring 6,903 yards, the course is a true test for any golfer. It benefits greatly from being part of a private club, however, hosting just 4,000 rounds per year.
- Skibo's Greenkeepers relish the opportunity their work gives them to enjoy the beauty of the Scottish Highlands every day, working outside in the fresh air with stunning views over the hills and Firth.
- As well as offering a challenging round with beautiful surroundings, The Carnegie Links is also renowned for its immaculate condition and attention to detail, something that our Greenkeeping team takes great pride in.
About The Role
- Seasonal Responsibilities: Throughout the year, our Greenkeeping team takes on a variety of tasks to keep the course in top shape.
- Course Maintenance: You'll spend most of your time outdoors, maintaining the course by switching and brushing greens, repairing divots, mowing, and turf repair and renovation.
- Daily Setup: Preparing the course for play includes positioning tee markers, maintaining bunkers, and looking after golf course furniture.
- Equipment Operation: You'll operate and help maintain essential machinery, from lawnmowers to tractors, ensuring they're ready for regular use.
- Health & Safety: As part of our commitment to safety, you'll promote safe work practices, including wearing proper attire and identifying potential hazards as they arise.
- Team Dynamics: You'll join a supportive, friendly team that enjoys the work they do, values teamwork, and takes pride in the course.
Who We Are Looking For
- Experience & Qualifications: You bring Greenkeeping qualifications and some relevant experience, making you ready to contribute from day one.
- Dependability & Initiative: Known for your reliability, you can work independently with minimal supervision.
- Leadership Skills: Capable of guiding apprentices and assisting junior green staff, you lead by example with a commitment to high performance.
- Passion for the Outdoors: Enthusiasm for outdoor work and a keen appreciation for golf and golf course maintenance are essential.
- Attention to Detail: You take pride in quality work, paying close attention to the details that make the course exceptional.
- Flexibility: Willing to work weekends as needed.
- Driving License: A full, clean driving license is preferred.
