The Gardens at Skibo

The Skibo gardens boast a wide variety of horticulture, from expansive lawns and arboretums to glasshouses and ornamental flower beds.
Our beautiful Walled Garden contains rows of stunning flowers and various produce from apples and plums to peas, salad leaves, and radishes, all for use in the Club's Kitchens.
The Victorian glasshouses, meanwhile, boast crops of tomatoes, cucumbers, chillies, micro-herbs and courgettes.
Sweeping down from the castle's terrace are the formal gardens, with their displays of roses and lavender, as well as herbaceous borders crowded with seasonal blooms.
Our Gardeners tend to all areas of the estate's formal grounds, keeping them beautifully well-kept and tidy by undertaking a wide variety of tasks, from grass cutting to cultivation, planting to pruning, and beyond.
Working alongside the many departments at Skibo, our gardeners help to grow and produce fruits and vegetables for use by the Club's Chefs in their seasonal menus.

Who We Are Looking For

A motivated and enthusiastic individual, you'll join our Gardens team on a full-time basis, working Monday to Friday with the occasional rotational weekend shift.
You're a team player with good communication skills who is dependable, committed, and capable of working both alone and with others.
You're eager to step up and assist your colleagues, both in your immediate team and across the many departments at Skibo.
You can be trusted to carry out instructions from your team leader, and you enjoy feeling like you are contributing to the success of the department.
Though not essential, spraying certificates, previous gardening experience, or qualifications in a relevant subject are ideal and will be useful.

About Gratuities and Service Charge

Gratuities (tips) and service charge (an additional charge added to room rates and other services at the Club that is passed directly to staff) are paid to all employees on a pro-rata basis regardless of their role.

It is estimated that in 2024, full-time staff can expect to receive around £4,000 in addition to their annual salary.
